Emergency crews stopped forward progress on a roughly 1/4-acre brush fire that sparked along Highway 101 west of Goleta late Wednesday afternoon.

Four engines and one battalion chief first converged on the area of Highway 101 and Naples Access Road at around 5:58 p.m. for a report of a fire on the hillside that was slowly spreading.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokesperson Karen Cruz-Orduña confirmed that forward progress stopped at 6:23 p.m.

Crews remained on scene for mop-up at around 6:30 p.m., per Cruz-Orduña.

“No structures were threatened,” she added.
