Buena scored in the 78th minute on Friday to eke out a 1-0 boys soccer win over Carpinteria.

“It was our first game vs. Buena in five years and it came down to the wire,” said Warriors coach Leo Quintero. “We played well enough to win tonight but unfortunately we weren’t able to execute and find the back of the net. The team has been improving at a steady pace, considering all our preseason matches have been against Division 1-3 opponents.”

Quintero praised the play of kepper Adrian González (6 saves) and captain Enrique Gutierrez, along with twins Ceaser and Vincent Rinaldi at right mid and right back.

“I believe our team is gaining valuable experience regardless of the results this preseason (the Warriors are 0-6-0). We look forward to an exciting league schedule starting January 8 at home vs. Santa Paula.”
