Cabrillo High junior Andrew Wallace wrestled his way to the 132-pound CIF-CS Div. 4 individual title this weekend at San Luis Obispo High School.

Wallace is now a two-time CIF champion after he won the 113-pound championship as a freshman.

“Over the years Andrew has proven to be one of the hardest workers and leaders in the wrestling room and continues that with individual private training lessons weekly that take place in Arroyo Grande while not wrestling tournaments,” Cabrillo High coaches Mike Wallace and Thaddeus Jeckell said.

He went 4-0 in the tournament this weekend, scoring 61 total points without letting a single opponent score on him. After being slotted in as the No. 2 seed, Wallace dominated the top seed from Firebaugh with a 13-0 win.

Wallace will now compete in the CIF Masters Tournament at Selland Arena in Fresno next weekend.

“We are proud of all that he has accomplished and look forward to what lies ahead for him,” Coaches Wallace and Jeckell said. “Andrew’s goal since starting high school is to place at State, he feels this is the year.”
