Lee Herrick, California’s poet laureate, will present free a reading of his works, 2 p.m. Jan. 14 in Shepard Hall at the Santa Maria Public Library, 421 S. McClelland St.
Herrick is the author of three collections of poetry “Scar and Flower,” “Gardening Secrets of the Dead” and “This Many Miles from Desire.”
He co-edited the anthology “The World I Leave You: Asian-American Poets on Faith and Spirit.”
Herrick is a professor at Fresno City College and teaches in the low-residency MFA program at the University of Nevada Reno at Lake Tahoe. From 2015-17, he served as Fresno City Poet Laureate. For more, visit www.leeherrick.com.
Musician and author Terry Sanville will contribute acoustic guitar music before and after Herrick’s reading.
The city of Santa Maria, Santa Maria Arts Council, and PLAY, Inc. are sponsoring Herrick’s reading.
