Cottage Health plans to move its Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital (CRH) to the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital campus in order to create a new and expanded rehabilitation center. Artists from throughout the region may apply to have their work displayed throughout the facility.

The Art Committee at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital is seeking applications and work samples from a variety of artists (who reside in the area as far north as San Luis Obispo, as far south as Ventura and as east as Bakersfield), who work in various media to be considered for commissions and purchasing or licensing of artwork. The artwork will be installed permanently, starting in November 2023 until September 2025, in the new Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital, in the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital in Goleta, California.

With opportunities for artwork in a wide variety of mediums including original art, oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings, mixed media art, glass, mosaics, and photography, existing and commissioned artwork will be considered. Art will be placed in corridors, waiting and consultation rooms, patient rooms, and a variety of other public areas. This Call for Artists includes artworks ranging from $150 (license fee for image usage) to $5,000 for original commissions.

The theme for Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital is “Building Well, Being Well.” Art content and imagery may include, but not be limited to:

  • Wellness, Active Lifestyle, Exercise representing both amputee and non-amputee
  • Inspiring and Motivational Images for patients recovering from disease or injury
  • Natural Seascapes and Coastal scenes
  • Natural Landscapes 
  • Macro Nature Images
