PAL provides transportation to summer camps for youth.

Campership Alliance is a community-based collaborative led by the Santa Barbara Police Activities League (PAL) to provide summer camp scholarships to local low-income youth. This past summer, 509 scholarships were awarded amounting to a value of $188,516.

“Without this scholarship, we could not afford for my sixyear-old to attend a summer camp,” said the mother of a scholarship recipient. “She made new friends, came home happy and confident each day, and I had the peace of mind of knowing she was safe and cared for. Thank you PAL and everyone in the community who helps make these scholarships possible,”

Camp scholarships were provided by PAL, Elings Park, Santa Barbara Parks & Recreation, Wilderness Youth Project, Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation, Santa Barbara Zoo, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Santa Barbara Education Foundation, MOXI, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Boxtales, Circle V Ranch, and Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.

To help a child go to camp next summer, those interested can make a donation at www.sbpal.org/campership-alliance.

PAL invites the community to join for the third annual Trunk or Treat 5-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28 in the Spencer Adams parking lot. The free, family-friendly event will provide a safe venue for trick-or-treating, and kids and families can meet our local first responders.

The Santa Barbara Police Activities League strives to build the bridge between cops, kids and the community through leadership, mentorship, and academic enrichment programs.

PAL, located at the Twelve35 Teen Center, provides teens with holistic programming including academic support and a range of enrichment programs such as fitness classes and equipment, environmental education, and social-emotional and mental wellness referral support.
