Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara will present the Celebration of Hope Garden Party & Awards Dinner, 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks.

The event gathers colleagues, friends, and loved ones who have been impacted by cancer to connect, share stories, and honor local oncology heroes working in a supportive care capacity.

This year’s event introduces a tribute to the local heroes of Oncology Supportive Care. Four honorees will be recognized for their dedication to their patients and families as guests get a glimpse into their day-to-day work during a live sit-down conversation.

The award categories are, Oncology Physician’s Assistant/Nurse Practitioner of the Year, Oncology Nurse of the Year, Oncology Social Worker of the Year, and Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara Staff Member of the Year.

Prior to the garden party, each honoree is being gifted a “glam day” hosted by Salon Nuuvo in Calabasas with styling from NIX Collection.

“Our toughest fights are the ones we face alone,” said Monica Merryman, executive director of Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara. “Our community has so many dedicated supportive care oncology professionals, celebrating them reminds us that we always have community by our side.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners, donors, and sponsors for making Celebration of Hope possible and for an unwavering commitment to our shared vision.”

The Celebration of Hope Garden Party & Awards Dinner draws a diverse audience, including medical professionals, clinicians, community leaders, change-makers, and individuals impacted by cancer.

The garden party will feature silent and live auctions, a wine pull, and an opportunity to win mystery boxes full of swag from national brands.

The silent auction will include baskets, experiences, and gift certificates, while the live auction offers such items as vacation stays in Paso Robles wine country and Park City, Utah.

Money raised from the event will support families and individuals impacted by cancer.

“I invite the community to come together and raise much needed funds for Cancer Support Community so that they can continue to provide emotional support groups, educational workshops and individual counseling for our family members, caregivers, and cancer patients,” said Mona Hoss, event chair for the 2023 Celebration of Hope.

“All services are provided at no cost to participants, so this signature fundraiser is critical for Cancer Support Community to continue to meet those needs of our community,” said Hoss who has been undergoing treatment for multiple myeloma for the last couple years and understands the importance of a strong support system like Cancer Support Community.

Celebration of Hope is made possible in part by its sponsors, including UCLA Health, Los Robles Medical Center, and Montecito Bank & Trust. To become a sponsor, visit www.cancersupportvvsb.org/celebration-of-hope.
