Now more than ever before, our physical, emotional and mental wellness is front and center. Because of this, Noozhawk is proud to launch our inaugural Holistic Health and Wellness Guide!
To give our readers the tools to help improve their mental and physical health in Santa Barbara County, Noozhawk has conducted a series of interviews with local wellness practitioners and businesses.
In this interview, Noozhawk talked with Stacy Borek, Founder and CEO of Capital B Financial Planning to learn more about her business.
Capital B Financial Planning
Question: What is the name of your business or practice?
Answer: Capital B Financial Planning, LLC
Q: Can you describe what services or products your business or practice offers?
A: Our core business at Capital B Financial Planning is financial planning and investment management. But we like to consider ourselves to be “Financial Wellness Architects.”
Q: How does your business or practice connect with health and wellness?
A: When you add financial health to your preventative wellness plan, you’re preparing both your body and your resources for a successful, fulfilling future. Having a healthy relationship with money is knowing your why, what, and how. Your financial and human capital can be guided to help you live life in your best intentional way.
Q: What makes your business or practice unique?
A: We are a concierge Financial Planning business passionate about the connection of health and wealth. Our vision is for every woman to have a financial plan. Life is full of planned and unplanned life transitions (death, divorce, job change, retirement). Some create challenges and barriers, and some create opportunities. Having a mindful financial plan will improve your quality of life and is not just about beating the market.
Q: How do you keep connected with the community and your patrons?
A: Every year we help many women create a personalized financial plan and welcome them to our community of women living healthy and wealthy lives. In addition, we create opportunities for women to gather in support of a charity or cause, attend educational seminars, and host luncheons and happy hours to show our appreciation and support to our clients. Collectively, we are building connections with each other and our community.
Q: What kind of training, education, or certifications do you hold?
A: We hold credentials in both wellness and finance. Our founder, Stacy Borek, is a Certified Financial Planner with more than 15 years of experience in the tax preparation and financial management field. She completed the Financial Planning curriculum through UC Santa Barbara. Stacy also holds a B.S. in Dietetics and has 10 plus years of experience in health and nutrition.
Q: How does your business or practice help your patrons?
A: Traditional comprehensive financial planning covers key areas of retirement, estate, tax, and investment planning. Capital B Financial Planning’s approach emphasizes organization, protection, and personal values as basic building blocks necessary for a truly comprehensive plan. Using tools to track spending, installing guard rails to protect your information from identity theft, avoiding elder abuse, and naming Power of Attorneys for your health and financial affairs are a few examples of how we help our clients build their foundation to financial fitness.
Q: Are your services covered by insurance?
A: No.
Q: If you do not accept insurance, do you offer any payment plans or any financing options?
A: Your best interest is our priority. As fee-only planners, we make the best recommendations for you—not for commissions. Our pricing is based on overall complexity, and we offer service packages designed specifically for women facing life’s changes; divorce, widowhood, job change, and retirement.
Q: How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your business or practice?
A: The pandemic has disrupted and challenged the normal. We opted out of the traditional advisory brick and mortar practice and adopted a concierge and virtual planning practice. Our virtual office allows us to hold efficient meetings via Zoom, and we meet in person upon request. The pandemic has challenged individuals and families around the globe, with a disproportionately large burden falling on the shoulders of working women. The silver lining; the pandemic has prompted many women to take greater control of their financial future. Lack of flexibility at work, housework, and caregiving burdens are taking a toll and women are seeking greater balance.
