Carpinteria boys water polo took down Foothill Tech by a score of 13-8 in the home opener on Tuesday.
The Warriors started early, jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the first half after converting off of several counterattacks and half-court drives.
“We played a great team-first game today,” Carpinteria head coach Karl Fredrickson said. “Almost all of our goals were assisted and we had 8 different players in the scoring column.”
However, Foothill Tech began to creep back in the second half with six goals. It wasn’t enough to take down Carpinteria, though, which kept its distance en route to the 13-8 win.
“A central theme that we’ve been focusing on this week is taking care of our teammates and, from my perspective, that principle is translating into selfless water polo and servant leadership,” Fredrickson said. “I’m inspired by the maturity and discernment that our Warriors showcase both in and out of the pool.”
The Warriors will be on the road to take on Rio Mesa on Thursday in a non-league matchup.
