Three Carpinteria girls set personal records in winning their events at a three-team non-league track & field meet with Foothill Tech and Cate on Wednesday.
Lela Roberts, Averi Alexander and Danna Mora were the PR setters. Roberts clocked 17.78 to win the 100-meter hurdles. Alexander won the triple jump with a lead of 32-10.75 and Mora took the discus with a throw of 86-11.
On the boys side, Israel Samaguey of the Warriors set a PR of 9 feet to win the pole vault.
Cate won the boys’ competition with 67 points, Foothill Tech had 61 points and Carpinteria 32.
Foothill Tech was the girls’ winner with 74 points followed by Cate with 48 and Carpinteria 38 points.
“It was a great meet for the Warrior athletes who stayed in town for spring break,” said coach Van Latham.
“They gained valuable experience against some quality athletes from both Cate and Foothill Tech.”
Kennedy Kirkland had a big day for the Cate girls. She won the 100 meters (12.74), 200 (27.89) and the long jump (17-2.75), and was the lead runner on the Rams’ winning 4×400 relay (4.30.34).
Pen Brooks of Cate set a PR in finishing second in a close boys 100. He ran 11.67, edged out by Merric Bayless of Foothill Tech who won in 11.56.
Cate’s Carlo Kim set PR in winning the 300 hurdles in 48.34 and 100 hurdles in 19.70. Sebastian Sutch set a PR in the 3200 meters at 9:57.89. He also won the 400 in 52.39.
Justin Musyimi of the Rams PR’d in the triple (43-0.25) and won the 200 in a season-best of 23.82.
