Carpinteria Girls Volleyball fell to Rio Mesa in four sets in a non-league matchup on Thursday. The final set scores were 25-13, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16.
After struggling in the first set, the Warriors bounced back with a close win in set two. However, Rio Mesa took back control and won a tight third set and cruised to a win in the clinching set.
The Carpinteria attack was led by Jenny Valencia, who turned in 15 assists to go along with six kills. Alongside Valencia was Liz Aplizar, who had eight kills and seven digs. Meanwhile, Ashlee Mora added in 12 digs.
The Warriors are now 1-2 in non-league play to open up the season.

The Royals gave a strong Oaks Christian team a battle in the first set in the non-league match in Thousand Oaks. The scores were 25-21, 25-18, 25-13.
