Carpinteria High baseball cruised to a 9-0 victory over Del Sol on Saturday at John Calderwood Field in Carpinteria.

“It was a nice day at the yard for both clubs to meet up for the first time,” Carpinteria High head coach Pat Cooney said. “Our favorite part of the day was that players showed up for early work and the right bounce-back mindset after a tough game the day before.

“There’s no doubt that we are scuffling a little bit as we work through injury and absence, but the players are doing a great job of adjusting and stepping into roles. Win or lose, we have to feel good about the team effort.”

Brick Trumble led the strong offensive attack for the Warriors, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Meanwhile, Jonah Hernandez roped a triple and scored twice for Carpinteria.

Hernandez started the game on the bump, striking out six batters for all of his outs in his two-inning outing. Meanwhile, Charlotte Cooney struck out three over three frames and Micah Smith slammed the door with two shutout innings.

The Warriors (9-1) will roll out the welcome mats for Hueneme on Wednesday.
