Carpinteria High baseball twirled a combined no-hitter and cruised to a 14-0 rout of Villanova Prep on Senior Day on Saturday at John Calderwood Field in Carpinteria.
The win closes out the regular season for the Warriors, who ended at 17-5 and will await their CIF-SS playoff division and first-round matchup next week.
Carpinteria High also celebrated its senior class of Noah Morente, Charlotte Cooney, Dallas Bartholic, Gabe Martinez, Micah Smith and Sam Medel.
“The class of 2026 is most deserving of the efforts that were made to make this a special day,” Carpinteria High head coach Pat Cooney said. “They won’t forget the family and friends that showed up in support.
“For many Warriors, today marks the regular season end to athletics efforts in multiple sports across four years at CHS. Each of them is capping a wonderful four-year effort.”
Pat Cooney was especially proud of his daughter, Charlotte Cooney.
“I’m grateful for all of them and it is especially surreal that my own child is included among such a great group,” Pat Cooney said. “It’s not lost on any of us that we have been very lucky to be in this situation for such a good long time. Carpinteria baseball truly is surrounded by good people.”
The senior tandem of Bartholic, Medel, Charlotte Cooney and Smith combined for the no-hitter. Bartholic got the start, Medel struck out five, Cooney K’d four batters and Smith slammed the door in the seventh.
Meanwhile, Jonah Hernandez had a big day at the plate with two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Bartholic, Smith and Medel each had a pair of hits and drove in a run in the lopsided victory.
The Warriors will now look ahead to the postseason.
“The competitive equity-based playoff system leaves us with a long break and a lot of unknowns,” Pat Cooney said. “It has been difficult for Carpinteria to mount deep playoff runs in any sport this year.
“All we can hope for is a reasonable ranking and fair placement when the brackets are released. No matter what, this particular season has been a great ride.”
