Carpinteria High baseball’s hot streak continued with an 8-3 win over Santa Clara on Saturday in Carpinteria.

The Warriors are now 7-0 on the young season ahead of their Citrus Coast League matchup at home against Fillmore on Wednesday.

“Preparation was good for a Saturday non-league game after an energized CCL week,” Carpinteria High head coach Pat Cooney said. “There were important innings on the mound, at bats and live action in the field.  Players got experience at multiple positions and newer players were able to enter the game and succeed.

“We were a little loose on defense as we committed four errors and we had a pair of baserunning blunders. We will need to tidy up heading into the thick of league play.”

The Warrior tandem of Jonah Hernandez, Charlotte Cooney, Sam Medel and Micah Smith combined to handle the pitching duties in the win.

Offensively, Hernandez went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. Medel also had a pair of hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Dos Pueblos 6, Lompoc 3

The Chargers won their non-league matchup with Lompoc on Saturday at Scott O’Leary Field in Goleta.

Dos Pueblos’ Luke Jackson fired four strong innings in the win, allowing one earned run and striking out a pair. Max Cruise tossed a scoreless inning of relief, while Matti Di Maggio slammed the door in the seventh for the save.

Di Maggio also roped a home run on the offensive end, while Jameson Barth came through with a go-ahead, two-run single and Evan Bean added to hits.

The Chargers are now 11-1 and remain 4-0 in Channel League play.
