Carpinteria High boys water polo went on the road and came away with a 14-4 win over Hueneme on Monday afternoon at the Viking Aquatic Center.
The Warriors raced out to a strong start, with Chris Reed, Ryder Shaw, Cade McCallister and Junius Fedders all scoring goals in the first quarter.
Carpinteria High continued to roll in the second thanks in part to goals from Noah Oliver and James Melton to take a 7-3 lead into halftime.
Warrior goalie Stefano Picoletti stepped up in the third quarter with several clutch saves and steals to keep Hueneme off the board and help extend the lead to 12-3.
Oliver and Kyle Taff tacked on one more goal apiece in the fourth to help bring the game to its final score of 14-4 in favor of Carpinteria.
“Everyone contributed to the match today, and I’m proud of their discipline in the game,” Carpinteria High head coach Russell Russo said. “We are making micro-adjustments every game to ensure our turnover ratio and ejections are low going into upcoming competition.”
The Warriors will host Hueneme for a rematch on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. to celebrate Senior Night.
