Carpinteria High cross country began the fall season by sending nine student-athletes to the HOKA 2-mile race on Friday at Rio Mesa High in Oxnard.

The Warriors turned in a strong showing in their opener, as all nine racers medaled and finished in the top 10 of their heats.

Jaqueline Guadian led the Carpinteria girls with a first-place time of 12:26.4, while Mila Martins closely followed in second place at 12:33.6.

Kenzi Gardner (15:20, 7th), Stacie Miranda (15:29.8, 8th) and Anisleidy Bernal (15:36.4, 9th) rounded out the Warrior girls’ performance.

As for the boys, Ronni Rosales-Bui came in second place in his heat at 11:26.8 and Liam Killen recorded a third-place finish with a mark of 11:55.3.

Rio Espinosa (12:44, 6th) and Christian Hernandez Ortiz (13:08.1, 9th) also recorded top-10 finishes for Carpinteria High.

The Warriors will be back in action at the Scary Dairy Invitational in Camarillo on Saturday, Sept. 5.
