Carpinteria High football suffered a 49-0 Citrus Coast League loss to Nordhoff on Friday night at Carpinteria Valley Memorial Stadium.

With the loss, the Warriors are now 2-2 against league opponents with one game remaining. If Carpinteria wins its matchup with Channel Islands next week, it will earn an automatic berth into the CIF-SS playoffs.

“It was a disappointing result tonight, but looking on the bright side, we still control our own destiny,” Warrior head coach Van Latham said.

It was a tight contest in the opening quarter, as the Rangers managed just one score to take a 7-0 lead into the second quarter.

However, Nordhoff found more of a groove in the second quarter with a pair of big pass plays to take a 21-0 advantage by halftime.

The Rangers scored two touchdowns in the third and two more in the fourth, all big pass plays, to run away with the 49-0 victory.
