Carpinteria High girls tennis picked up a 14-4 road victory over Villanova Prep on Wednesday in Ojai.

“The girls seemed to adjust to the heat quickly and really did a good job of playing three solid rounds,” Warrior head coach Charles Bryant said.

The pairings of Charlotte Cooney/Cailyn Gillen and Mina Handall/Emily Banks led the way by each going 3-0, while Cooney/Gillen did not drop a single game.

Kacy Kramer and Yaretzi Moctezuma rounded out the doubles points with a pair of victories.

Izzy Scott dominated her singles matchups, going 3-0 with just one game lost. Meanwhile, Aubrey Alcaraz went 2-1 and Caroline Cooney tacked on one win.

“Overall, it was a bit of a mixed day,” Bryant said. “We seemed to start slow but gained momentum in the second and third rounds, but we saw a lot of positives out there and some good tennis.

“We definitely need to work on putting our mark on the court, meaning we need to play our game and not get drawn into our opponents style.”

The Warriors (2-0) will host Bishop Diego and Thacher next week.
