Carpinteria High girls track & field capped off its undefeated season with a Citrus Coast League title in the CCL Championship meet on Thursday in Carpinteria.

The Warrior girls won 10 of the 16 events to earn 182 points and beat out second-place Fillmore at 105. Meanwhile, the Carpinteria High boys team finished in fifth place and Nordhoff won the boys meet.

“It was an outstanding day for the Warriors,” Carpinteria High head coach Van Latham said. “We had many come through performance. It is very satisfying to see us be ready when it counted. We ended up with a few more CIF qualifiers than we expected.”

Vivian Huskins won the 200-meter race and crossed the finish line in 25.96 seconds for a new CCL record. She was also a part of the first-place 4×100 relay team with Isla Moore, Giarys Gomez and Kaydance Gardner, who finished in 50.39 seconds. 

Moore, Gomez and Gardner completed a sweep of the relays alongside Halleh Gahan, recording a time of 4:17.89 in the 4×400 relay.

Gahan also won the 100 hurdles with a personal-best time of 16.94 seconds, and Gardner crossed the finish line first in the 400-meter race at 1:03.20.

Izzy Scott (300 hurdles, 50.47) and Kiana Kiah (1,600 meter, 5:35.26) rounded out the girls track event winners.

In the field, Callie Labistour won the long jump at 15-5, Caroline Cooney captured first in the triple jump at 32-3.25 and Lilian Van Eyck came out on top in the pole vault at 7-6.

Huskins (100 meter), Moore (400 meter), Gahan (300 hurdles), Mila Martinez (3,200), Jaqueline Guadian (3,200 meter), Leighla Richters (100 hurdles), Marely Avalos (discus), Hunter Stovall (pole vault) and Kenzi Gardner (triple jump) all qualified for CIF-SS prelims as well.

On the boys side, Josiah Gonzalez earned the lone CCL championship by taking first in the high jump with a personal-best mark of 5-7.

The boys 4×100 relay team of Cesar Jaime, Jeshua Magana, Isaac Neri and Owen Reeves clinched a spot in the CIF-SS prelims by crossing the finish line in 44.47 seconds for second place.

Eli Perez (shot put, 2nd, 45-7.25) and Caleb Kelly (discus, 2nd) put up strong showings in the throws to advance into postseason action.

Carpinteria High will host the CIF-SS Div. 4 prelims on Saturday, May 9.
