Carpinteria High girls volleyball opened its 2026 campaign with a four-set loss to Pioneer Valley on Tuesday in Carpinteria.
The Warriors (0-1) avoided the sweep with a third-set win, but ultimately fell to the Panthers in four, 20-25, 15-25, 25-16, 22-25.
“Carpinteria put up quite the fight and held strong for the first two games but ultimately came away short,” Carpinteria High assistant coach Evan Rowbottom said. “There were some great rallies, and the Warriors showed resilience and came away with a great outlook on what needs to be worked on.”
Leona McLellan turned in a strong performance for the Warriors in the loss, tallying 18 digs to go along with five kills and one ace.
Meanwhile, the trio of Samantha Sanchez, Vicky Martinez and Katia Nikolov all contributed defensively.
