Carpinteria High girls water polo capped off the regular season with a 15-5 victory over Nordhoff on Tuesday in Ojai.

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter thanks to strong play from Holliday Smith and Lucia Smith.

Carpinteria continued to hold the momentum in the second and third quarters with strong defensive efforts, including several steals from Lucy Moore and big saves by Gwen Postma.

The Warriors continued to pull away as the game went on until they secured the 10-goal victory.

“I’m truly proud of the progress these young athletes have made throughout the season,” Carpinteria High head coach Russell Russo said. “A tremendous amount of work and commitment has gone into shaping this team.

“No matter the outcome of CIF playoffs, they’ve stayed together and learned valuable lessons along the way.”

The Warriors will begin their playoff run next Thursday.
