Carpinteria High girls water polo took care of business with a 15-1 rout of Hueneme High on Thursday in Carpinteria.

It was a complete effort from the Warriors, who had every player in the starting lineup contribute at least one goal.

Lucy Moore scored her first goals of the season for Carpinteria in a game where the team rotated through a variety of lineups en route to the lopsided win.

“We are incredibly proud of the girls’ balanced approach,” Carpinteria High head coach Russell Russo said. “Their teamwork, sportsmanship, support for one another, and positive energy were evident from start to finish.”

The Warriors will compete in the Mistletoe Tournament this weekend.

Louisville 15, Cate 4

The Rams struggled offensively in a loss to Louisville on Thursday.

“Louisville is a well-coached, talented group that played physical, tough water polo for four quarters,” Cate head coach Jesse Morrison said.

“We were able to make some nice adjustments down the stretch and play with some increased intention and effort, but it was too little too late.”

Betsy Peters provided the offensive spark for the Rams, scoring two of the team’s four goals. Meanwhile, Alena Balat and Sydney Brass rounded out the scoring.

Peters also got the job done on the defensive end with a team-high three steals. Amber Lam totaled nine saves in the cage as well.

Cate will be back in action next weekend for a tournament in Ventura.
