The Carpinteria High Surf team capped off the Scholastic Surf Series season with a 52-29 victory over Malibu High on Sunday in Carpinteria.
The Warriors turned in a strong season to the tune of a 4-1 overall record, good for second place out of nine teams.
“The Carpinteria Surf Team are humble, hard-working, and just plain stoked,” Carpinteria coach Chris Keet said. “Regardless of the conditions at practice or at events, they show up and give 100 percent effort and have no problem putting in the hard work required to have a consistent betterment curve.
“Although the team is made up of individuals, it is the group effort and support that makes the team so strong. Each player, and their families arrive pre-event and support riders until the contest finishes, virtually each ride resulting in applause and cheers.”
Wyatt Pitterle, Izzy Scott and Charlotte Cooney were the top finishers for the Warriors on Sunday, taking home second place in their respective events. Pitterle competed in the Boys Shortboard, Scott excelled in the Girls Shortboard and Cooney finished in the top two in the Girls Longboard.
Cooney also secured a podium finish in third place in the Girls Shortboard while Luke Donahue earned third place in the Co-Ed Boogie Board.
