Carpinteria High swim split a non-league dual meet with Thousand Oaks on Friday, with the boys team coming out on top 85-84 and the girls team falling by a score of 96-69.
“I’m proud of the performances by the athletes today; they showed a lot of heart,” Carpinteria High coach Kurt Souza said. “Our swimmers continue to improve each meet, and that progress remains our focus going forward.”
The boys’ meet came down to the wire and was decided in the final 4×100 freestyle relay. The Warriors were trailing by three seconds as the last two swimmers dove in the pool, but Jake Ehlers came through and out-touched the Thousand Oaks swimmer for the win.
Ehlers also shined in individual events, taking first in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Stefano Piccoletti and Sky Korling also picked up individual wins for the Warrior boys after touching first in the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly, respectively.
Meanwhile, Izzy Scott led the charge for the Warrior girls with victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Lucy Moore (100 backstroke), Hazel Dugre (100 butterfly) and Madison Lee (200 IM) also earned wins for the Carpinteria girls.
The Warriors also took home the 4×50 medley relay and 4×100 freestyle relay for the girls, and the boys 4×50 freestyle and 4×100 freestyle relay teams came out on top.
Carpinteria High will be on the road against Camarillo on Tuesday.
