Carpinteria High track & field registered a pair of wins over Malibu on Thursday, with the girls winning 112-17 and the boys picking up an 85-31 victory.
With the meet win, the Warrior girls finished off an undefeated league dual meet season.
Girls
Carpinteria won every event but the pole vault in Thursday’s meet.
“It was a satisfying win for the girls,” Warriors coach Van Latham said. “We won the first event, the 4×100, by a surprising second-and-a-half margin. This set the tone for the rest of the day. We rolled from there.”
Vivian Huskins, Audrey Kramer and Averi Alexander each picked up a pair of individual wins on the day.
Huskins won the 100 meter and the 200 meter, Kramer came out on top in the 1,600 meter and the 3,200 meter and Alexander excelled in the field with wins in the long jump and triple jump.
The Warriors swept the 400-meter race with a trio of personal records by Ruby Cluderay, Izzy Scott and Giarys Gomez. Cluderay finished first and Scott and Gomez crossed the finish line at the same time behind her.
Cora Nimmons set a personal record in the high jump on her way to the first-place finish.
Boys
Wes Chung had a massive day on the boys side, walking away as a triple individual winner.
He earned first-place finishes in the high jump, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles to lead his squad to the overall team victory.
Sebastian Hernandez also played a large role in the win with individual victories in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Joel De Lira came out on top in the 800-meter race as well.
“It was great for the boys to win their second league dual meet,” Latham said. “The tide turned after Joel De Lira outkicked two excellent runners from Malibu to win the 800.”
In the field, Yohann Garcia finished first in the shot put and Nathan Carillo registered the best height in the pole vault.
Carpinteria will compete in the County Championships in Lompoc on Saturday.
