A man died in a motorcycle crash in the Carpinteria Valley Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
The motorcyclist, identified as Andres Aguilar Armenta, 30, of Carpinteria, was riding on Casitas Pass Road.
“For unknown reasons” he traveled off the roadway, down an embankment and collided with a chain link fence, CHP Officer Jon Gutierrez said.
The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and fatally injured in the crash, he said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released, pending notification of relatives.
The CHP is investigating the circumstances of the crash, which happened on Casitas Pass Road near Highway 192/Foothill Road.
Investigators closed the road for four and a half hours to examine the scene and remove the motorcycle, Gutierrez said.
This is the second fatal motorcycle crash reported in Santa Barbara County over the weekend.
A North Carolina man died Saturday after crashing his motorcycle down an embankment off Jalama Road, according to the CHP.
In southern San Luis Obispo County, a Bakersfield man died Sunday after losing control of his motorcycle on Highway 101 near Grover Beach, the CHP said.
