The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Girls Inc. of Carpinteria to host a National Night Out and Community Table event in Carpinteria, 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 1, in the 800 block of Linden Avenue.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places.
At the Sheriff’s Office and Girl Inc. of Carpinteria event, community members are invited to bring a picnic dinner and share a meal and conversation with fellow Carpinterians.
Sheriff’s Office staff, including a K9 Unit, custody deputies, and recruiters from Human Resources, will be on hand to mingle with the community. Carpinteria Fire, Carpinteria Public Works, and California State Parks will join as well, with more agencies being added each week.
“I am excited to spend time with members of the Carpinteria community and to introduce them to my colleagues at the Sheriff’s Office,” said Community Resource Deputy Bryan Dickey.
“We are bringing a mix of team members from the Sheriff’s Office to this event, along with allied agencies and community groups for a fun summer evening,” he said.
“This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity,” said Matt Peskin, National Project coordinator. “National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement.
“When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”
