Carpinteria High softball hosted the third annual Carpinteria Invitational on Saturday, and the Warriors went 1-1 in their two games.

The Warriors were bested by Viewpoint in shutout fashion to begin the day.
Ashlee Mora pitched the entire game for Carpinteria, allowing five runs on seven hits in five innings while striking out four batters.
Sophia Santana and Amarisse Camargo collected the two hits for the Warriors.
“We played well through three innings, the fourth inning showed some of our youth and inexperience where we had some key errors that allowed three runs in that inning,” Carpinteria coach Matt Mora said. “I’m sure there were some jitters with our three starting sophomores.”

The Warriors bounced back with a lopsided win over Nipomo to round out the invitational.
Ashlee Mora also got the ball in game two, tossing five strong innings while allowing one unearned run and striking out six.
“I am happy with [Ashlee’s] performance, she will need to strengthen her stamina to last the season as our only pitcher,” Matt Mora said.
Camargo and Ashlee Mora led the offensive attack with three hits apiece while Alexiana Jaimes drove in a trio of runs, two of which came on a third-inning double.
“I was really impressed with our sophomores Cecilia Lemus, Sophia Santana, and Mia Garces, who all collected one hit,” Matt Mora said. “They all three had a great game and seemed more relaxed and let the game come to them.
“Senior Paola Martinez did really well at second base in her first varsity games. She is getting better with every rep and starting to be more relaxed.”
The Warriors will take on Fillmore on the road on Thursday.
