Carpinteria lost both ends of a dual meet to Foothill Tech Thursday, with the Foothill boys winning 78-45 and the girls 72-53.

Both Warrior teams are now 0-2 on the season.

Carpinteria highlights included Ainslee Alexander winning 3 events, equaling her PR in the pole vault, earning a season-best 15-7.75 in the long jump, and winning the shot put with a 26-8.

Alexander’s freshman sister, Averi, won the triple jump with a PR distance of 31-4.25.

Freshman Lela Roberts won her first race with a 20.27 in the 100 meter hurdles. Carpinteria’s other winner was Mika Mullikin in the high jump.

On the boys’ side, Mateo Handall hit two seasonal bests to win the 200 and 400 meters, with a 23.77 and 52.34, respectively.

Juan Trejo won the shot put and discus, with a PR of 108-8 in the discus.

Brian Mendoza won the first race of his career with 12.42 in the 100 meters.

“We are still in the process of trying to find out if we can be a representative dual meet team,” Carpinteria coach Van Latham said. “We had too many unfilled events today to be competitive. We hope we can fill some of our holes next week.

“We have some injuries that need to heal in addition to some freshman and sophomores that show promise as they gain experience.”

The Warriors open Citrus Coast League competition next week against Fillmore.
