The Carpinteria boys and girls track and field teams closed out the dual meet season with wins on a windy day in Malibu Thursday, putting both teams in third place in the Citrus Coast League.

Both finish 3-2 in the CCL and 5-4 overall. The boys beat Malibu 83-43 and the girls 95-36.

Ainslee Alexander continued to lead the way for the Warrior girls by winning three events, taking the long and triple jump with marks of 15-9 and 33-0.75 respectively, and the shot put with a 28-8.5 toss.

Ariana Lounsbury set a PR in winning the discus with an 86-7. Freshman Anna Morrison won a close race in the 100 meters, setting a PR of 13.98. The Warriors also swept the hurdles with Lela Roberts running a PR of 19.36 in the 100m hurdles while Mika Mullikin won the 300s with a PR of 54.63.

For the boys, Mateo Handall earned two PRs in winning the 200 meters in a time of 23.19 and the 400 with a 51.34.

Marcos Dominguez was also a double winner, taking the discus with a PR of 107-0 and taking first in the shot put with 37-5.

Wes Chung was a triple winner, with a PR of 17-11 PR in the long jump and wins in both hurdles, an 18.16 in the 110 highs and 48.88 in the 300 intermediates.

“Both teams took care of business on a clear blustery day in Malibu,” Carpinteria coach Van Latham said. “Malibu was not able to cover all the events adequately and the Warriors took advantage of their lack of numbers.”

The Warriors now head into the Santa Barbara County Championships on Saturday, followed by the CCL Championships next Thursday.
