The Carpinteria boys cross country team finished third and the girls came in fifth place at the Citrus Coast League meet No. 2 at the Fillmore Farm on Tuesday.

Joel De Lira led the boys team with a sixth-place finish. He ran the 3-mile course in 17:37.82. Also scoring for the Warriors were Marvin Lujano (8th place, 17:48.14), Hugo Alvarado (15th, 18:17.15), Pedro Campuzano (29th, 19:36.12) and  Edwin Hernandez, (31st, 19:39.28).

Carpinteria finished behind Fillmore and Santa Paula.

“The boys team put together a good third mile, passed a few runners, and surged past Channel Islands High for the third-place finish,” said coach Angel Silva.

Belen Herrera place eighth overall for the Carpinteria girls. She was followed by Carel Bautista (26th place, 24:12.38),
Audrey Kramer (36th, 26:27.60), Giarys Gomez (42nd, 28:42.04) and Mika Mullikin (43rd, 28:53.40).

“Both the girls and boys teams ran well and have improved since the last league cluster meet.” said  Silva
