The Carpinteria boys posted another good night Thursday with a 3-0 sweep of Pacifica, 25-22, 25-20, 25-14.
Diesel Slade led the Warrior attack with 11 kills and Joaquin Gonzalez added nine. Gavin Lohuis had 27 assists.
“Pacifica was a very scrappy team, but so were we,” Warrior coach Mickey Caughey said. “We had one of our best defensive nights with everyone going all out to keep balls in play.
“Sebastian McCurry had one of his best defensive nights getting all over the floor to bring up digs. He especially excelled at covering our hitters by bringing up balls that were blocked straight down by the Pacifica offense.”
Slade and Gonzalez “both hit equally well from the front row and back row, making them dangerous no matter where they are on the court.”
And Lohuis “does a great job of running our offense and making sure everyone is where they are supposed to be. It’s a bit like herding cats sometimes and he’s good at it. If you have some cats who need herding, Gavin is your man.”
Carpinteria, 2-0, hosts Foothill Tech Friday at 5 p.m.
Dos Pueblos Lacrosse
Jack Finneran scored four goals and Vince Crisa and Gus Miller earned their first hat tricks to lead Dos Pueblos to a 15-4 win over Heritage Christian.
Miller also picked up 10 ground balls and had two assists.
The Chargers are 2-0 on the season.
