The Carpinteria Children’s Project (CCP) is one of 10 organizations that has received funding from the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara during the 2021 grant cycle.

The $90,000 grant will support CCP’s mission and provide funding to sustain high quality-early childhood education to Carpinteria children ages 2-5-years. The funding will expand the scholarship program so all families who value early childhood education can give their children a strong start in school.

CCP’s tuition-based preschool lost significant revenue to COVID-19 mandates. After a forced three-month closure, the preschool was subject to mandatory enrollment caps when the center reopened in June 2020.

Today, with the rise in vaccinations and significantly reduced numbers of infected people, CCP is getting back to normal operations with some continued health and safety protections in place. The Women’s Fund grant will allow CCP to recuperate some of the losses due to COVID restrictions, and to support incoming families in the fall.

“We value the Women’s Fund as supporters of our mission, and we especially appreciate that the hundreds of members who make up the Women’s Fund prioritize organizations in Carpinteria along with organizations serving Santa Barbara and Goleta,” said Teresa Alvarez, interim executive director and associate director of CCP.

At CCP children and families in Carpinteria are provided with resources, services and education to ensure they reach their highest potential. The Early Childhood Education Center and Family Resource Center have been community assets in supporting the Carpinteria community.
