The Carpinteria boys swept Hueneme Tuesday to cap off a Citrus Coast League championship with a 5-1 league record.

Are we happy? You Betcha!” Warrior coach Mickey Caughey said.

The 25-15, 25-16, 25-14 sweep allowed Caughey to use all four bench players, and he was well pleased with their play.

Among the starters, Diesel Slade had 11 kills, six digs and an ace, and Gavin Lohuis added 36 assists, six digs and a kill. Rigoberto Perez had six perfect passes and 13 digs; libero, Sebastian McCurry had two aces, 11 perfect passes and 25 digs. Joaquin Gonzales had an ace, seven kills, 13 perfect passes and 23 digs. Zach Isaac had an ace, four kills, and seven digs and River Taff got five kills.

The Warriors finish the season 11-3 overall, and for the fourth week in a row are still rated No. 1 in CIF-SS Division 5. Out of 11 wins, 10 came on sweeps and the three losses were to higher-division teams, Caughey said.

“It’s been a great year so far and we’re looking forward to seeing who we might play first in the Division 5 Playoffs,” Caughey said.
