Carpinteria swept all nine doubles sets and clinched at least a share of the Citrus Coast League title Tuesday with a 12-6 win over Hueneme.

The Warriors were missing some players and had to forfeit three sets, but were strong enough to make up that deficit.

The doubles teams of Nolan Martin/Connor Gralewski, Ryan Souza/Troy Zimmerman and Zaiden Juarez/Ben Persoon went a combined 9-0.

“Each duo did a great job of being consistent and working their way to the net today,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. “I thought they were solid all around, but really had a great chance to work on their volleys and overheads.”

In singles, Max Stone won his three sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
“But I was really impressed with Sean Collins today,” Bryant said. “Although he did not win a set, he got better against each opponent and almost pulled off a big upset against the Viking # 3 player, losing 7-6(6).

“He was serving well and hitting a lot of balls, which was great for his confidence as he will be needed for our home match against Malibu” on Wednesday.

Carpinteria is now 13-4 overall and 7-1 in league play.
