The Carpinteria girls won five of six field events, with Ainslee Alexander accounting for three of those, to keep the Warriors in first place in the Citrus Coast League with an 85-48 win over second place Malibu Thursday.

Both the boys and girls prevailed over Malibu to improve to 4-0 in league competition. The boys won 97-32, with Vincent Rinaldi winning his only event of the day, posting 11.21 seconds in the 100 meter dash.

For the girls, Alexander set a personal record in the long jump with 15-7.5, won the triple jump with a hop, step and jump of 32-9, and finished off with a 26.1 victory in the shot put.

“Ainslee is a great athlete with tremendous competitive spirit,” Carpinteria coach Van Latham said. “She has the making of a heptathlete. She threw the discus for the first time today and has dabbled in the pole vault.”
