The Carpinteria girls fought hard in a five-set match with Hueneme before succumbing, 25-20, 23-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-7.

“We had another five set match that kept everyone in the edge of their seats,” Warrior coach Greg Novak said. “We made good runs in the home stretch of the first and third sets but it was a little too late.”

In the victorious fourth set, “Madison Priess took matters in her own hand” with six aces and “caused trouble on several other serves,” Novak said.

Sophomore setter Averi Alexander helped run a 6-2 offense.

“Averi is new to the setter position and getting better with every touch,” Novak said. “There’s a lot to learn for a new setter and Averi has managed to keep her composure during intense situations.”

“Senior Outside hitter Camryn Siegel teamed up with Ashley Mora to hold the back court. “Camryn added points to the scoreboard with several kills in the front row. Sophia Olvera did a great job serving short to pull Hueneme out of system.”

Carpinteria is now 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Citrus Coast League.
