Carpinteria’s girls water polo team was was edged by Santa Ynez for the second time this season the same score, 9-8.
This one-goal loss came at the Carpinteria Community Pool on Monday.
The score was tied at 7-7 after three periods, and Santa Ynez pulled out the win in the final period.
Sydney Gills scored four goals and Hannah Allen had two to lead Santa Ynez.
Briana Rodriguez led Carpinteria with three goals and Piper Clayton scored two and had four steals. Goalie Erin Otsuki recorded 12 blocked shots.
“The girls played well, they made some good plays and some not so good plays,” said Carpinteria coach Jon Otsuki. “Playing without two starters allowed the younger Warriors to get quality minutes under high pressure situations.
“It has been a rough time getting a consistent roster of starters due to Covid disruptions.”
The Warriors (7-4) begin Citrus Coast League play at Santa Paula on Thursday and host Hueneme on Friday.
