Carpinteria took a 5-4 lead into the fifth inning, but visiting Cabrillo took over from there for a 13-5 win over the Warriors Friday.
Matt Muñoz had a productive day at the plate for the Warriors as he collected two hits and scored a run. Erich Goebel knocked in two with a single in the fourth while scoring in the same inning. Hunter Garcia reached base three times as he doubled in the first inning and later walked twice.
Both teams scored four runs in the fourth inning.
The loss was Carpinteria’s second in two days against Channel League opponents, after Thursday’s loss to Santa Ynez.
“The Channel League foes are tough on a young team,” Carpinteria coach Patrick Cooney said. “The Conquistadores are well coached and they exposed some weaknesses in our young group. While we met the challenge of competing today, it seems like our guys left the field a bit frustrated with themselves. We all know that the Warriors can perform better.
“The good news is that we played two really good teams this week, and the experience can only help us as we return to league play next week.”
The Warriors play two with Fillmore next week starting with a road game Wednesday and concluding the season series at home next Friday.
