Joaquin Gonzalez had nine kills Tuesday to lead Carpinteria to a sweep of Ventura, 25-17, 25-19, 25-12.
In their first home match, the Warriors improved to 3-1 on the season.
Diesel Slade added six kills with no hitting errors, Gavin Lohuis had 25 assists and Sebastian McCurry dug 18 balls.
“Both teams started out a little nervous, but we got over our nerves before Ventura, and started getting three- and four-point runs, winning the race to 25 points in the first set,” Carpinteria coach Mickey Caughey said.
“… By the third set we were feeling good and playing with much more confidence. We played so well that I started putting in players from our bench. We didn’t miss a step, winning the third and final set 25-12.”
The Warriors play two more home matches this week, against Pacifica on Thursday and Foothill Tech on Friday. Both matches start at 5 p.m.
