Carpinteria’s Erin Otsuki made the championship finals in four events at the CIF-SS Division 3 Swimming Finals in Mission Viejo on Saturday.
Otsuki was joined in the top eight by the Carpinteria boys 400 relay. The team of Matthew Lamberti, Asher Smith, Jackson Melton and Justin Main finished in eighth place in school-record time of 3:18.35.
Otsuki placed seventh in the 100 backstroke (1:00.83) and eight in the 50 free (25.36). She also competed on two relays that finished in the top eight. The 200 medley team of Otsuki, Giulia Piccoletti, Lilliana Nemetz and Piper Clayton finished eighth in school-record time of 1:57.54.
The same quartet came in sixth in the 400 free relay in 3:47.93.
Also for Carpinteria, the boys 200 medley relay of Smith, Melton, Main and Lamberti finished 11th (1:41.89); Piper Clayton took 16th place in the 200 freestyle (2:03.11); Lamberti went 48.85 in the boys 100 free for 12th place overall (fourth in the consolation finals) and swam 22.54 for 20th place in the 50 free.
In team scoring, the Carpinteria girls placed 10th with 72 points and the boys finished in 18th with 39 points.
Tabitha Pearigen of Santa Ynez had a pair of top-8 finishes in the Division 3 meet. She was sixth in the 100 free (54.36) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:14.41). The Pirates placed 10th in the 200 free relay with the team of Weylin Hawkins, Gigi Hall, Lilly Mazza and Pearigen (1:43.89) and 14th n the 400 free relay with the same foursome (3:53.53). Santa Ynez placed 18th with 46 points.
