Carpinteria held on against an aggressive Lompoc side and finished in a scoreless draw with the Braves in a non-league girls soccer game on Thursday.

“I was so proud of our girls tonight,” Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant said. “We did not play the way we wanted to play but we played the way we had to play considering we were doing a constant shuffle with our lineup due to game-time injuries and sickness.  The girls played with so much heart tonight and it definitely was not pretty, but they bonded in the back and held it together during long stretches of Braves attacks.”

He praised defenders Aly Springer, Riley Wrought, Monse Alpizar and Dayne Wagner.

“Not much was getting through them and if it did, keeper Ariana Lounsbury was there to make comfortable saves throughout the night,” he said.

Carpinteria (2-5-1) is back in action Friday at noon against Beverly Hills.
