Booker T. Jones, an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer, and arranger will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at the Lobero Theatre, presented by Earl Minnis Presents and Lobero Theatre Foundation.

Best known as the frontman of the band Booker T. & the MGs, Jones has worked with award-winning artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

He is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Musicians Hall of Fame inductee, Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and “arguably the most famous Hammond B3 player in history,” organizers said.

As leader of Booker T. & the MGs, the soul music icon collaborated with Otis Redding, Albert King, Eddie Floyd and Sam and Dave during his tenure at the Stax Records label.

“He pushed the music’s boundaries with his hits on Stax, refined it to its essence, and then injected it into the nation’s bloodstream,” organizers said.

Jones also made the charts as a solo artist, and produced albums for Rita Coolidge, Bill Withers, and Willie Nelson’s Stardust, and lent his trademark keyboards to artists ranging in genre from Ray Charles to Neil Young.

Jones won Grammys for Best Pop Instrumental Album for his 2009 solo album “Potato Hole,” which features guests Neil Young and Drive-By Truckers; and his 2011 solo release “The Road From Memphis,” where he is backed by the hip hop band The Roots.

In 2013, Jones released “Sound The Alarm,” marking a return to Stax Records after 30 years.
