Cate boys soccer capped off a stellar Tri-Valley League season with a 9-0 rout of Dunn on Friday in Los Olivos.

The Rams are now 10-1 overall and finished 8-0 against league opponents. They will end the regular season by hosting rival Thacher on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Meldman Field.

George Marin dominated the opening half for Cate, scoring in the fourth minute and pouring on three more goals, while Alex Gallegos scored once to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.

The Rams continued to roll in the second half as Marin scored two more goals and Teke Meisel and Nathan Koh each scored to bring the game to its final score of 9-0.

“It was a complete performance highlighted by disciplined defending, unselfish play, and balanced scoring across the roster—an encouraging sign as the Rams head toward the postseason,” Cate head coach Jorge Reynoso said.

Girls Soccer

The Carpinteria High girls soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Channel Islands on Friday.

The Warriors (13-1-2, 9-1-1 Citrus Coast League) will now take on Santa Paula on Tuesday to determine the league champion.

The lone goal of the night came in the 39th minute from Callie Labistour, who finished off a cross from Kenzi Gardner.

The Warrior defense held strong throughout the matchup to secure the clean sheet as Vivian Huskins and Kaydance Gardner anchored the back line and the duo of Aven Hardy and Charlotte Cooney handled goalkeeping duties.

Meanwhile, Evelyn Lara served as the Carpinteria High field general in the midfield.

“This match had a playoff atmosphere, as winning would give each team a chance at a piece of the league title,” Carpinteria High head coach Freddy Martinez said.

“It may not have been the prettiest soccer on display out there, but sometimes you have to play the right tactics to secure a victory.”
