Cate boys water polo dominated the opening quarter and never looked back en route to a 17-7 win over Thousand Oaks on Wednesday in Carpinteria.
The Rams (4-0) took command on both ends of the pool early, building a 7-1 lead that held for the rest of the matchup.
Monte Prince scored five goals to pace the offensive outburst, while Tenny Brine scored twice and dished out four assists. Eric Gan added two goals, and Andrew Sheshunoff collected seven saves and three assists.
“Another strong showing for our group. Our team defense continues to create counterattack opportunities early and often,” Cate head coach Jesse Morrison said. “I love the way we continue to make the extra pass in transition to look for not the first, but our best scoring opportunities.
“Once we were in the frontcourt, Maddox Tanaka played a great game as a facilitator, dishing out several key assists. Our biggest test of the season is just around the corner. I am excited to see how we show up.”
Cate will be on the road against Ventura High on Friday at 4 p.m.
