Cate boys water polo jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to a 17-3 win over Villanova Prep on Wednesday in Ojai.
The Rams scored three quick goals in the opening quarter and cruised to the lopsided victory from there, improving to 9-0 on the season and 4-0 in league action.
Tenny Brine did it all for Cate in the win, collecting three goals, four assists and two steals. Monte Prince also shined on both ends with five goals and two steals, while August Shapiro dished out three assists and scored once.
Defensively, Rhys Meredith totaled five saves and Devon Liang swiped three steals for the Rams.
“We looked sharp. Our high-lane press in the first half was effective, leading to takeaways and counterattacks,” Cate head coach Jesse Morrison said. “In the second half, we were able to try some different zones in live game situations.
“Offensively, our message of the day was to practice patience and make the extra pass. We have a young squad, so continuing to hammer home those details will serve us well in the long run.”
The Rams will host Foothill Tech on Friday at 4 p.m. in Carpinteria.
