Eman Brine and Liam Moes powered the Cate attack in a 20-7 boys water polo season-opening win over Newbury Park.

Brine led the Rams with five goals, while Moes scored four goals and dished out two assists. Tenny Brine and Monty Prince each added three goals and an assist. Goalkeeper Andrew Sheshunoff made six saves and assisted on two scores.

“After starting the game down 1-0, our boys flipped the switch and played four quarters of smart, unselfish, impressive water polo,” said Cate coach Jesse Morrison. “We had contributions across the board: players starting for the first time in their Cate career, 9th graders playing in their first bit of high school action, and returners setting the tone with their quality of play.

“While there is always room for improvement, I am proud of the way we got our season underway and can’t wait to see what this group can accomplish.”

The Rams travel to Righetti on Tuesday.
