The Cate School sports teams enjoyed a strong spring campaign in the Tri-Valley League, with plenty of standout student-athletes across campus on the hill.
From the impressive boys tennis squad to the stellar season in the pool, plenty of Rams garnered All-League honors for their strong seasons.
Boys Tennis
The junior duo of James He and Kenny Wang was a dominant force throughout the spring for the Rams, winning the league’s doubles title and being named the Tri-Valley League Doubles MVP.
Junior Kakeru Hirofuji had a standout season in singles play, while the junior team of Kaden Greene and Kendrick Suen was in the middle of the team’s overall success with All-League First Team campaigns.
Sophomore Andrew Jayich was also an impactful singles player for the Rams on his way to an All-League Second Team nod.
Boys Swim
The Rams racked up the All Tri-Valley League honors in the pool, totaling a whopping 25 All-League performances for the boys swim team.
Junior Wil Rivera led the charge by pulling in four All-League First Team honors, while junior Josiah Hansen earned a trio of All-League First Team selections along with an All-League Second Team nod.
Seniors Jae Wykoff and Elliott Paige ended their Cate careers on a high note, pulling in four All-League honors apiece. Meanwhile, junior Devon Liang had a strong season of his own with three All-League selections.
The freshman duo of Charlie Guo and Liam Moes got their high school years off to a strong start with two All-League honors each.
Seniors Mo Kanda-Gleeson and Tristan Maigret rounded out the team’s honorees as All-League Honorable Mentions.
Girls Swim
That success in the pool also included the girls swim team, led by four-time All-League honorees senior Jen Won, junior Emi Kanda-Gleeson and junior Tori Kim.
Junior Madeleine Kollock also played a key role in that success with a trio of All-League selections, while junior Makayla Niu and sophomore Sofia Wang followed with two All-League performances apiece.
The freshman duo of Amber Lam and Kirra Tanaka gave Cate swim fans plenty to look forward to in the years to come, with All-League honors this season.
Boys Track & Field
The junior pairing of Jackson Steele and Ryan Chen was at the forefront of the Cate boys track & field team this spring, earning spots on the All-League First Team. Chen also recorded an All-League Second Team showing.
Ati Zwieback, Joshua Butler, Ethan Qiu, Jordan Ryan and Miles Thompson turned in All-League Second Team campaigns as well.
Girls Track & Field
Sophomore Sloan Harwell headlined the Cate girls track & field spring season, leading the team with four All-League selections.
Junior Sophie Blank, senior Gwen McTigue, senior Emerson Evans and senior Eise Tsai followed with two All-League honors apiece, while Nika Iverson, Harper Bishop and A Bitang Cameron recorded one All-League performance apiece.
Boys Volleyball
Senior outside hitter Lucian Tann filled up the stat sheet on a consistent basis for the Rams’ boys volleyball team, earning a spot on the All-League First Team.
Meanwhile, fellow senior outside hitter Philip Choi was a strong complement to Tann and was rewarded as an All-League Second Team member.
The trio of Patrick Wykoff, Kunqi Wang and Rowen Foster each had strong individual campaigns as well on their way to All-League Honorable Mention selections.
Baseball
On the diamond, the senior duo of Chase Meyer and Noah Casbarro turned in strong years in their final high school seasons and earned All-League Second Team nods.
The sophomore trio of Henry Helson, Alejandro Sandoval and Jonah Vann showcased the future of the Rams’ baseball program as All-League Honorable Mentions.
