Cate football put an exclamation point on its perfect season with a 63-14 rivalry win over Thacher on Saturday.

The Rams end the regular season with a record of 8-0 and will now await their placement into the CIF-SS 8-man football playoffs on Sunday.

“It’s a great feeling to be league champions and end the regular season undefeated,” Cate coach Ben Soto said. “We now set our goal to be the best we can be as we enter the playoffs.”

It was all Cate from the opening kickoff, as the Rams raced out to a dominant 35-0 lead after just the first quarter.

Quinn Pullen and Jacob Gabbay connected twice to open the scoring and give Cate a 14-0 advantage before a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Body Mast made it 21-0.

Josh Butler got in on the fun on the defensive end with a pair of pick-sixes to contribute to the scoring onslaught, one in each half.

After a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Pullen and a 15-yard touchdown catch by Ethan Rehnborg, the Rams found themselves leading 41-8 at halftime.

In the second half, Cate capped off the scoring with a 40-yard pitch and catch from Pullen to Rehnborg, a 10-yard touchdown rush by Oliver Charvel and Butler’s second pick-six.

Defensively, Riley Valente and Barron Crayton applied pressure while Mack Nieman, Davey Rissel, Henry Bouma and Zach Coulter stifled the rushing attack. The Rams ended the day with four turnovers.
