Cate girls volleyball punched its ticket to the CIF-SS Div. 7 Finals with a four-set win over the California Academy of Math and Science on Saturday in Carson.

After splitting the first two sets, the Rams finished off the semifinal victory with back-to-back wins, 26-24, 20-25, 26-24, 25-18.

“Tonight we rode through some ups and downs, kept our composure and found a way to win,” Cate head coach Jordon Dyer said. “We embraced another set of challenges and kept our eyes on the prize, looking forward to playing some more Cate volleyball.”

The Rams will now face off against West Valley in the championship game next Saturday at 5 p.m. The location is to be determined.

Oyin Opawumi continued to lead Cate to victory, leading the team with 27 kills and 29 digs. Meanwhile, Cassidy Rose came up clutch in the fourth set with four of her 15 kills to help secure the win.

Coco Kliman also turned in a much-needed performance at the net, hammering down six kills and tallying several big blocks. KayKay Ercil also contributed with some strong assists down the stretch.
